Back in episode 4 of our Friday Field Videos, we had just hit the midway point of our renovation. Layout changes had just been completed and we were still waiting on cabinets and flooring along with a number of other finishing touches. Now, in just a few hours, we will be handing the keys over to the new resident to enjoy this beautiful cottage, but before that happens, let’s take a look at where this unit started and what’s been renovated…

EP 4. – Cottage Renovation Update
The community I’m at today is a high end retirement community with a number of cottages surrounding the main building. Before new residents move in, they meet with members of the leasing team to design their ideal home for retirement.

EP 2. The Kapella Showroom
By setting up our own showroom, we were able to become a cabinet and flooring vendor and no longer need to rely on others to keep projects moving. The Kapella Showroom now has over 100 samples from flooring and cabinets, to countertops, and even roofing and siding options. By working directly with manufacturers, we are able to cut out the middleman and pass the savings on to our customers.
EP 1. The 21 Day Unit Renovation
In every renovation project, there are a number of checkpoints that must be hit before the next step can be started. For example: before countertops can be templated, the cabinets must be installed. If there is a delay in installing the cabinets, then countertops are delayed, which causes plumbing to be delayed, and so on, leading to a unit turn taking longer than 21 days.
